About Kauila Clark
Kauila is unique as a highly respected practitioner in the local
Native Hawaiian community who has also shared his cultural traditions
with international businesses. He bridges the world of Aloha to
Zen.
He is a Certified Traditional Hawaiian Practitioner by the Native
Hawaiian Traditional Healing Center of the Waianae Coast Comprehensive
Health Center; a Kahu Hope, Kahuna Laau Kahea, Hooponopono, Pule,
through Native Hawaiian Traditional Healing Arts and Cultural Training
by Master Practitioner Kamaki Kanahele; and “Shihan”
(Living Example of the Arts) from the Chozenji Daihonsan, Academy
of Zen and the Arts in Kalihi Valley.
He performs Native Hawaiian weddings, blessings and other spiritual ceremonies for people and companies such as Norwegian Cruise Lines,
Hawaii Tourism Authority, and Tesoro
Kauila presents on Native Hawaiian Values, Aloha, and Health for clients
such as Halekulani Hotel, The World Cruise Ship, Marriott Ko Olina
Resort, Oahu Visitors Bureau, Keck Observatory, Bakken Foundation,
Lili’uoklani Children’s Center, Hawaii Watchable Wildlife
Project, Big Island Leadership project, Hawaii Preparatory Academy,
North Hawaii Community Hospital, Wake Forest University, and the
Ted Turner Foundation.
He consults with clients including Outrigger Hotels (sense of place),
North Kohala Native Hawaiian Culture Center (design, function and
program development), West Hawaii Community Health Center (design
and development), Parker Ranch, and Catholic Charities Hawaii.
For 10 years, Kauila was President/CEO of West Oahu Employment Corporation,
an Employment and Training Program in the Kapolei region. He has
more than 14 years of experience in counseling.
He has been active in the community since 1988, including as a
member of the Board of Directors of the Waianae Coast Comprehensive
Health Center for 17 years, and currently serving as Treasurer of
the National Association of Community Health Centers.
Kauila's formal training is in art, having completed the course work
for a Ph.D. at the University of Kansas, received a Master of Fine
Arts from the University of Puget Sound, and his BA at Graceland
College in Iowa.
He is married and has three sons.
